NOTE: This page is for SE v3, if you are looking for SE v4, please visit Badge / Award / Special Members Plugin for SocialEngine v4 page.

The plugin allows each user to be assigned badges which can be displayed as a series of iconic images on their profiles. Users can optionally pay to have badges. Admin can also use this to build pages for special members, award pages for members with detailed review and recognition etc.. Badges can also be assigned across various of system user groupings like user-level, subnetwork, profile type.

This plugin is very flexity and allows you to run it in combination of different modes. A common use will probably be to display the badges on user’s profile. These badges can be assigned individually by the administrator or attached to a user-level, subnetwork, or even profile type so that, for example, all users in the ‘Super User’ level will show the ‘Super User’ badge which could display as a graphic icon/image.

Badges can also be assigned, chosen or even purchase (PAID badge) by user themselves if administrator turn on that option. This would generate some nice extra income for your site if you have some incentive for your user to get special badges on their profile. An example would be to have those of badge member pages listed under “Special Members” menu, like “Charter Member”, “Premium Supporters”, “Donators”, “VIP” etc.. If user want to be listed on that page, they would have to pay (or not .. up to you :-)

Key Features

Details user-level control / setting

Support both FREE / PAID badges

Admin approval process

Run on both user, and admin assignment mode.

Allow to control limit number of badge user can have

Support system-wide assignment for user level, subnetwork, profile type.

Can be used to built special / featured member pages.

Can be used to award users, review members with special recognition or achievement.

Integrated on profile page, home page, and other pages.

Different linking option, and running mode

Detailed permission controls for each badge

Full member review page.

many more ..

Requirements

SocialEngine v3

ePayment Module (FREE in account area)

Demo

Note: you may have to sign up for an account and log in to use all of its functionality.

1) On header, top menu, you should see “Badges”, and “Special Members” (can easily change the language to anything you like). You can config exactly what should be listed under “Special Members” menu, for demonstration purposes, I listed “Charter Members”, and “VIP” pages, for members who actually paid to get listed there.

http://se3.radcodes.net/home.php

2) Member Recognition page (review/description written by admin). You can use this feature for anything from “founder”, “about xxx”, “learn more ..”, maybe full page advertisement for “special/featured” members/companies etc…

http://se3.radcodes.net/badgeassignment/1/

http://se3.radcodes.net/badgeassignment/2/

3) Browse Badges page: unlimited category, admin can also control what badge should go on this page. A badge can be marked as private so that only admin can have access to and assign to user.

http://se3.radcodes.net/browse_badges.php

4) Single badge page view: list all users who has this badge.

http://se3.radcodes.net/badge/9/

5) Badges by User-Level, Subnetwork, Profile Type: basically admin can easily set assign a badge for any of these system group. All users who belong to that group will get the badge. For example, you can assign “special gold badge” for users who belong to “PAID Premium” user-level, so that they stand out. Perhaps, if you have Guy / Girl subnetworks, you can do Mars and Venus sign badges for them as well.

http://se3.radcodes.net/badgeusers/level/2/

http://se3.radcodes.net/badgeusers/subnet/2/

I did not config the system to have badge for Profile-Type so there is no demo for it.

6) Profile integration: show on side, tab, or manual integrated

http://se3.radcodes.net/pgtop/

NOTE: This page is for SE v3, if you are looking for SE v4, please visit Google Map Plugin for SocialEngine v4 page.

This plugin allows you to show member locations on Google Map and visitor can also search for it, visualizing your members geo infos on a big huge map :-) There is also a mini map on member profile. This plugin is extremely fun to play around with. It sure will provide as an awesome add-on interactive tool for your users. With “caching location reversed look-up”, your map would load very fast, because the code cache address longitude and latitude of addresses. Without caching, the your server would have to make connection to Google or Yahoo database to retrieve those info. NO NEED TO DO THAT NO MORE. Everything is cached.

Feature High-light

The only SocialEngine plugin that support for search members around zip/postal code within XYZ distance, aka “proximity search”.

Key features:

Support proximity search (optional, requires FREE Geo Module & location database)

Global big interactive map for your members

Mini map for your member on profile page (optional)

Pop-up for larger map on profile page

Privacy setting for your member

Super config for admin

Built-in caching location reversed look-up

Requirements:

SocialEngine v3

Geo Module (FREE)

Javascript enabled on user browser (of course)

Google Map API Key (free)

Demo:

Global Member Map

Profile Map

Try zip code 90071, or 91801, change distance from 2 => 10 => 50 etc.. if you want to give proximity search a test drive.

Geo Location Packs

If you want to make use of (optional) Proximity Search feature, which relies on zip / postal location point database, you can purchase our pre-built location import packs for United States and International (7 countries). This is totally optional, you do not have to purchase it from us, they are available for you for FREE (google it) on various of open-source or official websites (ex: http://www.geonames.org), one small issue is that they may be in different format.
